BUCHANAN'S Epigram, 30th Liber I.
Qui te videt beatus est,
Beatior qui te audiet,
Qui te haviat semi Deus est,
Qui te petitur est Deus,
IMITATED AND ADDRESSED TO CLARISSA.
Happy the youth who does behold thy face,
Where blooms each charm, where shines each lovely grace;
But much more happy he, whose ravish'd ear,
In melting accents thy sweet voice does hear;
But still more happy he who from your lips
More balmy sweets than Jove from nectar sips;
Thrice blest that youth to whom thou dost resign,
Thy ev'ry charm who art thyself divine.
